Bio
Alex Lim (b.2005) is the emerging artist behind The Unskilled Boy. He has been developing his love for abstract, figurative and pop art, working with acrylic, ink, oil pastels, watercolour, and pencils/pens on canvas and paper.
In 2025, he produced Cat Nation, a series of 60 cat-themed paintings, raising more than $2,000 for Cat Welfare Society. Before that, Alex presented a commemorative series, Scenes, for his 500th painting. In the last four years, Alex has created works for 14 series, 7 exhibitions, and brand commissions. The teen finds beauty in the details, sometimes humorously, in his works of nature, animals and everyday things. Alex's works are vibrant, bursting with intricate details. The abstract / figurative drawings draw elements from the real world and are represented in shapes, forms and colours, detaching the subjects from its true form.
His pieces have been exhibited in Singapore (including public works) and Korea, and was featured in Spain in a group presentation at Barcelona Metro. Alex's paintings come from a place of honesty and love, straight from the heart. His mission is to spread his art far and wide while keeping it affordable for all.
