SAFE PACKING WHEN YOU MOVE
Picture
How to pack artwork for moving is a challenging ordeal for anyone, but it becomes even more taxing if you are an art collector. Artworks and paintings are of great value to both the artist and the owner. While moving, all art lovers get a little anxious about packing their artwork. Here is a guide to help you out with artwork packing.

Stretched Canvas

  • Step 1: Surface of the painting is protected by acid-free paper to avoid damage to the acrylic paint
  • Step 2: Painting is covered with a protective bubble wrap
  • Step 3: Painting is wrapped with a third layer with acid-free paper, secured by tapes and jute string
  • Step 5: Package is placed inside a kraft brown bag ready for delivery

  • Step 1: Roll up the canvas with the paint on the outside
  • Step 2: Padding is a must so it won't press against a hard surface. Lay down a layer of cling film or glassine paper on the floor before you put the painting in the tube.
Framed Art

  • Step 1: Artist tape is used to place a X on the surface to secure it and then a cardboard on top of it.
  • Step 2: A layer of bubble wrap goes around the frame with protective corners for the edges.
  • Step 3: Layers of brown paper and corrugated cardboard will be added and secured with tape.

Boxing

  • Step 1: Place wrapped paintings in appropriate boxes
  • Step 2: Add newspaper to pad up the empty spaces so the items inside are secured
  • Step 3: Seal the box with tape before marking what are the items inside
